The Short Version
Your voice never leaves your Mac. We collect nothing.
Voice Data: Never Transmitted
All speech-to-text processing happens locally on your Mac using WhisperKit (OpenAI's Whisper model running on-device). Your voice recordings are processed in memory and immediately discarded. Nothing is sent to any server — we don't have any.
Servers: None
Voxly has no backend servers. The app runs entirely on your Mac. There is no cloud component, no user database, and no way for us to access your voice data — because we never receive it.
Analytics: None
We don't use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, or tracking pixels. We have no idea how you use the app, what you dictate, or how often you use it. That's by design.
Local Storage: Minimal
Voxly stores only your preferences locally on your Mac:
- Hotkey configuration (which keys trigger recording)
- Selected Whisper model
- UI preferences (indicator visibility, sounds, live transcription interval)
- Language preference
This data is stored using standard macOS preferences and never leaves your device.
Accessibility Access
Voxly requests Accessibility permissions to insert transcribed text at your cursor position. This permission is used only for typing the transcribed text into the currently focused application. Without this permission, transcribed text is copied to your clipboard instead.
Microphone Access
Voxly needs microphone access to record your voice for transcription. Audio is processed locally in real-time and never stored permanently. Temporary audio files used during transcription are deleted immediately after processing.
Network Access: Model Download Only
Voxly connects to the internet only to download Whisper AI models on first use. This is a one-time download from Apple/Hugging Face CDN. After the model is downloaded, the app works completely offline. No other network requests are made.
Third-Party Services: None
Voxly does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs for analytics or tracking. The only external dependency is WhisperKit for local AI inference.
Payments
Voxly is free. There are no purchases, subscriptions, or payment processing of any kind — so we never see or store any payment information.
Children's Privacy
Voxly does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Since we collect no data, there is no data about children to protect.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes occur. Our commitment to local-only processing and zero data collection will not change.
